British Deaf Carp Angling – 2023 Linear Fisheries, Brasenose 2 (3rd and final match of the year)
WOW, what an unbelievable match and definitely our best match EVER in BDCA’s history so far! Total of 3……9, YES 39 carp caught!!! Some amazing display of angling from some of the members, showing that deaf people can be successful and proved everyone else wrong!
Thursday night we had an amazing social gathering with some of the lads, Jack Sturdy brought a big gazebo for us all to gather around and have a few drinks/catch up and lots of chatter. Some were already fishing on Brasenose 1 and St Johns.
Friday Morning everyone started to arrive for the match, Draw at 10am then everyone headed off to their swims for the start of the 48 hours ahead.

Had one of the most unbelievable sessions in BDCA’s history, used about 28kilo of bait and said it was not enough!! 1st Place winner with 11 CARP!

Gary Watton, Long time BDCA angler and Commitee! The BDCA money man As always, fantastic angler and insanely thorough with his methods + information which almost always pays off as it did for him in this match. 5 carp and second place winner! (2x 30lb+ carp!)

Jack Dullaway, Fantastic angling and broke his Personal Best TWICE in 48 hours!! Not many carp anglers can say they broke their PBs twice in one session! He got a proper bucket of water at the end of the match as seen in the video with Jamie Doolan

Jamie Moulding, another angler that had a great session! After a couple of blanks in past deaf matches, he hit the ground running in this one with a total of 4 carp! BIG congratulations and he deserved this, long time coming!

Jack Sturdy, Long time BDCA angler and Committee. Another person that loves Simmo Carp – his favourite word! Worked very hard spodding + 3 rods at 26-27 rod wraps, hurt his shoulders badly so he decided to reduce down to 19 wraps and was successful with 3 carp in 48 hours! All the effort paid off!

Col Douglas, The Angry Scottish Man and his wild dog Nice to see him return back to Carp Fishing and back with BDCA. He drove a very very long way from Scotland and travelled the UK to a few different fishing venues before coming to Brasenose 2 for the BDCA match. Crazy commitment, massive respect!

Gavin Lloyd, doesn’t come to BDCA matches often but when he does always a great company! He fished St Johns a few days before then headed down to Brasenose 2 for the BDCA match. Worth the trip down for him because he caught his PB! (Shame he ran away before we could throw a water bucket on him for his new PB )

Joe Berry, as always catches 20lb+ carp EVERYWHERE! Once again in this match, more 20lb+ carp! If you need to catch a 20+, ask Joe Berry for advice! He fished Brasenose 1 before the deaf match then he moved to Brasenose 2 with us on Friday Morning.
