About half of us turned up on Thursday evening for dinner at the Maybush pub followed by a few drinks and social in the main Oxlease car park. Staying overnight in our bivvies by the car park we woke up to frosty grass and some iced cars! So unusually cold for September!
After the 10am draw we settled in our swims and the match started at 12 noon. Nothing came out till around 4pm as a lot of us were still setting up during the afternoon. First fish fell to Gary Watton in peg 14, a mirror of 26lb 6oz. Followed shortly by another mirror of 23lb 15oz to Joe Berry in the next swim, peg 13.
All went quiet till just after dark when Chris Jenkins had a 22lb 6oz common from peg 25. The rest of the night was cold and the fish shut up shop until the next morning when Colin Douglas caught a 25lb 7oz mirror from peg 6 followed by Darren Blunt with a 13lb 8oz mirror next door in peg 5.
Nothing happened until late afternoon when Matthew Potter caught the biggest fish of the match at 28lb 2oz from peg 23, a lovely deep bodied mirror. Well done Matthew!
The second night was a contrast to the first, with a good number of fish coming out. Mark Cunliffe had a 21lb 12oz mirror and an 18lb common from peg 22 the disabled swim. Darren had two more mirrors of 20lb 2oz and 24lb 4oz along with a 18lb 5oz common, Adam Evans across the lake from Darren had two in quick succession of 16lb 2oz (common) and 14lb 12oz (mirror), Colin caught a 23lb 5oz mirror and the last fish of the match, a 20lb 3oz mirror, fell to Gavin Lloyd.
Dawn came and all morning till the match ended no fish came out at all.

1st Place: Gary Watton – 3 carps
At this point i don’t think we’re surprised to see Gary’s name at the top again! As always, on top of his game and amazingly skilled angler! With 3 fish, he blew the competition out of the water!! (I meant Weight because the 2nd place winner was very close!)

2nd Place: Adam Evans – 2 carp
We were all very happy to see him finally catch his first BDCA carp and what a way to start! Coming second, he caught 2 fish with some lost too. Also the biggest one of the match!

3rd place: Callum Garvin – 1 carp
I feel weird writing about myself but what can i do…
With only one fish, but at a good weight i managed to steal 3rd place…. With a scaley banger! But maybe deserved because it was by far the prettiest fish of the match! And Quite possibly the best looking carp i’ve ever caught. Also lost 3 fish to hookpulls.

4th place: Col Douglas – 1 carp
Angry Scottishman scores again! But couldn’t beat Liverpool this time With one fish but only 1lb away from 3rd place! Robbed by me (Callum)

5th place: Stephen Willis
Putting his name on the map again, consistent as hell and great angler!
Another extremely close finish, within 1lb of 4th Place and 2lbs off from 3rd Place!

Overall 8 carps caught between 15 anglers, pretty good result compared to harsh fishing in Horcott at the last match. Next Deaf match will be at Oxlease on the Linear Fisheries complex, get your space booked now! Only 9 weeks left!
