Ten of us fished under the worst fishing conditions – scorching heat, high pressure and Carp all on the surface showing no interest in floating baits. What a challenge!

Friday midday at the start of the match Paul Casey in peg 18 had a run within a minute of casting out a pop up and battled a decent sized fish all the way to the net only to lose it 😓

After that we had to wait another 30 hours until 6pm on Saturday when Joe Berry finally saw the first fish on the bank, a mirror of 13lb 4oz. It was the first time ever that Joe caught a carp on a zig so well done to that man! That was in peg 19.

During the following night Mark Cunliffe lost a fish as the line was snagged on a boulder under water but 15 mins later he had another run which resulted in a 17lb 8oz mirror. Both runs were to zigs in the margins of peg 14.

Not long after dawn on the Sunday Stephen Willis caught the biggest fish of the weekend again on a zig, weighing 22lb 2oz. A nice fish it was too, from peg 20.

In peg 1 Tony Ward also caught two Tench, an Eel and a 27lb Ghost Carp which we had to disqualify as we couldn’t see it with our eyes no matter how hard we looked at his photo of the fish 🤣

I managed to take a mobile phone picture of a Kingfisher on my rods but unfortunately this didn’t bring me any luck with the fishing 😢
