Amazing weekend full of banter and social between all of the Deaf anglers despite hard fishing conditions and very few bites.
Majority arrived on Thursday night for a social with food and some beers involved!
On Friday we kicked off our match at 10am after drawing names for our peg numbers and a short speech by our Committee members of the lake rules and so on.
Fishing was tough all weekend, weather wasn’t suitable and the fish weren’t interested in feeding much. Which led to difficulties in trying to catch them, this also meant it was much more rewarding for these who did manage to slip the net under a fish!
The first one being Steven Laney, one of the original members of BDCA and a regular for many many years. In my opinion, the most deserving winner of this weekend after so long of not giving up and staying committed year after year. He managed to get first blood, which ended up being the winning fish of the match. A stunning Mirror Carp weighing in at 28.4lbs.
Then absolutely nothing else came out until the very last morning (This morning 10th May, last day) when Colin Douglas and Jamie Doolan managed to also slip their nets under one fish each.

1st Place Winner: Steven Laney – 28.4lb Mirror Carp
2nd Place Winner: Colin Douglas – 26.09lb Mirror Carp (Amazingly the same fish Joe Berry caught last year!!)
3rd Place Winner: Jamie Doolan – 11.11lb Common Carp
Honourable Mention to Colin Douglas for catching an AI bream!!
